The Organizing Authority for the 2010 North American Championship is the International 2.4mR Class Association in conjunction with Edison Sailing Center
1 RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2 No national authority prescriptions will apply.
2 ADVERTISING
Advertising will be restricted to Category C. Competitors may be required to display one or more event sponsor’s advertising on their boats and/or sails.
3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 The regatta is open to all boats of the International 2.4mR Class. All participants shall be current members of their National Class Association or a member of the International Class Association.
3.2 Eligible boats may enter by completing the online registration form and electronic payment using PayPal/credit card. Registrants may also complete the registration form and mail it, with required fee(s), to: Edison Sailing Center, 15880 Summerlin Rd. #300-175, Fort Myers, FL 33901, USA. The online registration process may be found on http://www.goesc.org/regattas/2-4mr-class and clicking on the link for the North American 2.4mR Championship Regatta. Fees must be paid online using PayPal or paid by other instruments in US currency only.
3.3 Entries will be accepted until November 25, 2010. Registrations received after this date will be considered Late Entries, with an additional fee of $25 required for payment. On site registrations will be accepted only with all required documentation, proof of membership(s), and payment in US dollars. No credit cards will be accepted on site.
3.4 A boat is not registered until its regatta fee is paid, proof of required class association membership and third party insurance is provided; valid measurement and flotation certificates are presented, and measurement checks are satisfactorily completed.
4 REQUIRED FEES
4.1 Entry fee is $175.00, USD. Late Entry fee is $200, USD.Fees cover the following per boat: launching, hauling, dock space, trailer storage, regatta activities, awards celebration, & meals for skippers.
4.2 Other fees: Guests of Sailors, Coaches, & Support Personnel meal tickets will be $30/pp USD

  • Welcome Reception Thursday, December 9, 2010 Royal Palm Yacht Club Business Casual attire, please. No tank tops or shorts!
  • Warning Signal Friday, December 10, 2010 1000 hours *Four (4) races scheduled
  • Waring Signal Saturday, December 11, 2010 1000 hours *Three (4) races scheduled (no Warning after 1300 hours)
  • Awards Celebration to follow racing Saturday, December 11, 2010 at ESC
5.2 All boats shall be afloat before 1700 hours, December 8, 2010.
5.3 No more than four races shall be sailed in one day.
6 MEASUREMENT
6.1 Each boat shall produce a valid measurement certificate.
6.2 Each boat shall produce a flotation certificate issued by an Official Measurer, or be flotation tested according to Rule B.4.1 and C.5.2(b)
6.3 In addition, the following measurement may be taken at the discretion of the chief measurer and the OA:(a) Weight of all yachts shall be checked against Measurement Certificate as stated in Rule C.5.1.(b) The ISAF Plaque Number shall be checked against the Measurement Certificate stated in Rule B.5.(c) A maximum of 3 jibs and 2 mainsails may be registered. The J and E measurers respectively given on the certification mark Rule G.2.2( c ) shall be checked against the Measurement Certificate. The sails shall be marked by a stamp of the OA. Only sails with Certification Marks Rule B.2 by the sail makers or an Official Measurer shall be stamped.(d) Flotation marks on the hull according to Rule D.9.2 as well as marks on spars according to Rule F.2.2 shall be visually checked.(e) The following safety devices shall be checked: Manual pump according to Rule D.9.1(a)(2); towing rope acording to Rule C.4.2(a)(1); and fitting for towing rope according to Rule D.9.1(a)(1).(f) Limitation of Fore TriangleBase Rule D.9.1(a)(3) shall be checked according to Rule C.8.4(a).(g) Mast datum point above sheer line shall be checked according to Rule C.8.2(b)(2).(h) The outer point distance should be checked according to Rule C.8.3(a).(I) Adjustable shrouds should be checked according to Rule C.8.4(b)
6.4 Measurement checks and inspections may be made at any time at the discretion and direction of the Race Committee.
7 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Preliminary sailing instructions will be available by October 8, 2010, online at http://www.goesc.org/regattas/2-4mr-class. Final Sailing Instructions will be available at Registration.
8 VENUE
The racing are will be the Caloosahatchhe River, approximately in front of the Royal Palm Yacht Club.
9 THE COURSES
The courses will be a windward-leeward-windward or a double windward/leeward configuration with a race duration of approximately 60-90 minutes.
10 SCORING
10.1 The Low-Point Scoring System of Appendix A will apply.
10.2 There will be up to 12 races sailed, of which 3 are required to be completed to constitute the North American Championship.
10.3 (a) When fewer than 6 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her races scored.(b) When from 6 to 9 races have been completed, a boat’s series scores will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score,( c )When 10 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores.
11 SUPPORT BOATS
Support Boats must register with the Host Club to receive safety and rescue assignments and shall be marked with a designated flag and shall display their National flag at all times during the races.
12 BERTHING & HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS
Boats shall be assigned to dock space and shall not be hauled out during the regatta except with written permission of the jury.
13 RADIO COMMUNICATION
13.1 A boat shall not carry while racing any device capable of making or receiving radio or other wireless transmissions.
13.2 A VHF channel will be designated in the sailing instructions for the Race Committee to communicate with support boats for safety & other purposes.
14 PRIZES
Awards and trophies, in addition to the Perpetual Trophy, will be announced.
15 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained I conjunction with, prior to, during, or after the regatta.
16 INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $300,000.00 US per occurrence (or the equivalent).
